Global colouring, it’s all about the base

The global colour service is where a permanent colour is applied to the new hair growth.  It is ideal for clients who want all of their hair coloured and excellent for grey coverage clients. Your stylist will customise a recipe specific to your natural colour and what you desire.

As the most common colour service it is easy to think of a global service as very straight forward. However achieving a correct base will be the difference between a great colour and a bad one. The colour may need two different selections for the front hairline and back of the hair. It will also need the correct formulation to work cohesively with the natural base shade, undertone and the degree of coverage require

A base colour is exactly that, the basis or foundation to your colour. It needs to look believable and grow out well. This comes down to product choice, depth, tone and processing times.  The second part of this service is colouring the mid length to ends of the hair. Hair that has already had previous colour, exposure to climate, wind , sun and heat tools, especially on the top layers requires a more nourishing product and recipe.

Redken Professional shades EQ colouring system is a miracle for achieving the best results to compliment your base colour.  This part of the service always needs to be reassessed at each appointment to see what exposure it has had in the last 6-8 weeks.  The stylist will understand what depth and tone to correct condition and colour to enhance the final result.

We would recommend global colouring services done every 6-7 weeks with the exception of some clients maintaining at 5 week intervals. Topping up with a professional powder to soften re-growing hair, having a cut in between this time or a treatment and blow wave is more optimal than over colouring your hair.

If the regrowth is too small in between bookings it can result in overlapping which causes colour to simply go darker and hence make the re growth more obvious.
